by Bank of Ann Arbor June 27, 2012 9:19

It's gonna be a hot one on Thursday, but the music will suit the mood day perfectly. Jill Jack, this week's Sonic Lunch performer, serves up original songs and covers of favorites in her own country/folk/soulful style. Her warm personality makes her live performances especially delightful. All you have to do is sit back and enjoy. Oh, and maybe tap your toes or clap along.

Visit soniclunch.com to learn more about Jill Jack and our lunch partners for the week, The LunchRoom and Mighty Good Coffee.

Ann Arbor Spark's Podcast of the Week: Tim Marshall

by Bank of Ann Arbor June 22, 2012 2:48

The Bank of Ann Arbor has been a financial bastion in the region since it's founding in 1995. Through the economic boom of the early 2000s and the recession that followed, the Bank of Ann Arbor has been steady in its leadership and policies. This doesn't happen by accident - it takes a strong leader, like the Bank's President and CEO, Tim Marshall.

Tim, in addition to his leadership of the Bank of Ann Arbor, was recently approved by the Board of Governors of Federal Reserve Bank to serve as Chair of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago’s Community Depository Institution Advisory Council (CDIAC). Tim has also led many of the Bank of Ann Arbor's community outreach programs, like the weekly Thursday summer concert series, Sonic Lunch.

In his podcast with Ann Arbor SPARK CEO Paul Krutko, Tim discusses the role the Bank of Ann Arbor plays in building the Ann Arbor region's economy - from it's financial activities to all the community outreach programs the Bank sponsors.

This week at Sonic Lunch: Mitch Ryder

by Bank of Ann Arbor June 20, 2012 9:32

Bank of Ann Arbor’s Sonic Lunch is proud to welcome Motor-City rock icon Mitch Ryder to the stage for an epic free performance in Liberty Plaza Thursday, June 21. Mitch Ryder and The Detroit Wheels served as the musical bridge between the Motown soul factory and the high energy, take no prisoners rock ‘n’ roll that would roar out of Detroit via Iggy & The Stooges, MC5, Ted Nugent and Bob Seger. Mitch is known for his hits in the mid to late 1960s, most notably “Devil with a Blue Dress On”, their highest-charting single at #4, as well as “Sock It to Me-Baby!”, a #6 hit in 1967, and “Jenny Take a Ride!”, which reached #10 in 1965. Mitch has been called “the unsung heart and soul of the Motor City rock and roll scene” by the All Music Guide, and is celebrating a career that has spanned six decades.

Following his performance, Mitch will discuss and sign his new autobiography, Devils & Blue Dresses: My Wild Ride as a Rock and Roll Legend, at 7 p.m. at the Ypsilanti District Library, 5577 Whittaker Road, Ypsilanti, MI.

Ann Arbor’s 107one’s Martin Bandyke gets us excited for this week’s Sonic Lunch: Mitch Ryder comes to Sonic Lunch for Thursday’s Sonic Lunch.
