Bank of Ann Arbor’s Sonic Lunch is proud to welcome Motor-City rock icon Mitch Ryder to the stage for an epic free performance in Liberty Plaza Thursday, June 21. Mitch Ryder and The Detroit Wheels served as the musical bridge between the Motown soul factory and the high energy, take no prisoners rock ‘n’ roll that would roar out of Detroit via Iggy & The Stooges, MC5, Ted Nugent and Bob Seger. Mitch is known for his hits in the mid to late 1960s, most notably “Devil with a Blue Dress On”, their highest-charting single at #4, as well as “Sock It to Me-Baby!”, a #6 hit in 1967, and “Jenny Take a Ride!”, which reached #10 in 1965. Mitch has been called “the unsung heart and soul of the Motor City rock and roll scene” by the All Music Guide, and is celebrating a career that has spanned six decades.
Following his performance, Mitch will discuss and sign his new autobiography, Devils & Blue Dresses: My Wild Ride as a Rock and Roll Legend, at 7 p.m. at the Ypsilanti District Library, 5577 Whittaker Road, Ypsilanti, MI.
