Bank of Ann Arbor is pleased to bring Family of the Year to Sonic Lunch in Liberty Plaza on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Noon.
The musicians who comprise the indie-rock band Family of the Year hail from all over the U.S., the quartet including Martha's Vineyard natives and siblings Joe Keefe (vocals, guitar) and Sebastian Keefe (drums), plus Florida native James Buckey (guitar) and California-born Christina Schroeter (vocals, keyboards). Joe Keefe once played in the alt-rock band Unbusted, but that group's hard-edged sound is many miles away from the soothing melodies and luscious harmonies found in FOTY's music, likened to 'The Mamas and the Papas on acid' by Steven Tyler of Aerosmith.
Released just under a year ago, the band's second album 'Loma Vista' features the hit single 'Hero,' a beautiful song which fits in quite well with the new acoustic music scene, a genre which also includes the Head and the Heart, the Civil Wars and the Avett Brothers. 'Loma Vista' was notably produced by Wally Gagel, part of the hit-making production duo Wax Ltd (he and Xandy Barry have collectively and individually worked with artists like Muse, New Order, and The Rolling Stones).
Come see this gifted group at Liberty Plaza this Thursday at noon as part of Bank of Ann Arbor's Sonic Lunch concert series and see why they've also been booked for prime slots at the upcoming Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago and Mariposa Folk Festival in Canada.
